It looks like the late oysters (Sarcomyxa serotina) have started to come in! I found a handful of fair-sized ones and many, many little nubs just starting to come in. Unfortunately, even the barely formed ones I found were already getting chewed up by squirrels and beetles. I hope I can find some a little closer to home to try soon--I left these for the animals this time. #mushroom #mushrooms #fungi #mushtodon #foraging #nature

A cluster of older late oysters is shown on the side of a log. The outer edges are clearly chewed up.

The caps are turned over to show their dark green-gray color and slightly sticky appearance.

A hand holds late oyster mushrooms in a variety of sizes. The fan/kidney-shaped mushrooms are laid gill side up, showing the orange-yellow closely-spaced gills.
